Born through the experiences of it’s founder Michael Penny, the story of Savvy Rest began in 2003 in Virginia, USA. Prior to this, Mr. Penny was experiencing insomnia while his wife Heather was also waking up with unexplainable headaches in the mornings. Both were following a healthy lifestyle of exercise, eating organic food and practicing yoga, yet could not understand what was at the root of their poor sleep conditions.

 
Finding an organic mattress was a difficult task for Mr. Penny, which lead to a new idea. Leaning on his experience working at a futon mattress company, Michael approached creating a mattress and mattress store with a mission to create an organic mattress that was comfortable, non-toxic, versatile and reliable. He wanted to give customers a level of service they had never experienced before from a mattress company.
