Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a safe and effective natural therapy that is used to prevent disease, heal illness, and improve well-being. Tiny, hair-thin needles are inserted into specific points in the body, where they are gently stimulated to trigger the body's natural healing response. Acupuncture is effective for controlling pain and can regulate the body's physiological functions to treat various internal dysfunction and disorders.
Traditional Chinese medicine states that there are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body and twelve energy channels, called "meridians", running vertically along the length of the human body, each one linking to a specific organ. Illness is caused by obstructed energy flow at certain points along the meridians. Acupuncture therapy stimulates meridian flow and harmonizes the body's energy to influence the health of both body and mind.
In the late 1970’s The World Health Organization recognized the ability of acupuncture and traditional Oriental medicine to treat over 43 common ailments.

Evidence indicates that acupuncture stimulates the release of brain chemicals such as endorphins that function to relieve pain. Research also shows that acupuncture strengthens the immune system, improves circulation, decreases muscle tightness, and increases joint flexibility.

What Should I Experience During My Acupuncture Session
The needles used in acupuncture are extremely thin, like the shaft of your hair. The insertion is quick and virtually pain free. There are some common feelings associated with acupuncture. At first, many people experience warmth, coolness or heaviness around the area of insertion. This usually subsides and gives way to a feeling of deep relaxation. There are no side effects with acupuncture other than feeling either more relaxed or more energized.
